Share Holders – Investors
- Organizing the annual shareholders meeting on 7th April 2010 at the Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok to inform shareholders about the company’s progress and performance, and voting for the company’s agendas
- Organizing shareholders visiting activity at PTT Chemical Group’s factories at Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate including joining with communities, students, managements and employees of the group of companies for global warming mitigation measure by plantation at Map Chalute Temple, Rayong Province

Innovation
- Signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Bio-plastic for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development Project with the Thailand Research Fund to develop biodegradable bio-plastic
- Opening of the nation’s first Petrochemical Innovation and Technology at Rayong Province which is Thailand’s first large scale petrochemicals research and development center. - March 2009, PTT Chemical Public Company Limited (PTTCH) have signed an amendment with Glow Energy Public Company Limited (GLOW) to extend their Power Supply Agreement and Steam Supply Agreement until 2025. The capacity contracted will be increased from 22 MW to 24 MW of electricity and from 65 T/h to 70 T/h of steam.
- May 2009, Cognis Oleochemicals, the joint venture between PTT Chemical International Private Ltd and Sime Darby Plantation Sdn Bhd unveiled its new branding and company name EMERY OLEOCHEMICALS. This marks an important milestone for both organisations as this international joint venture will fully integrate the upstream and downstream capabilities of each partner. Emery Oleochemicals has production facilities in Germany, USA, Canada and Malaysia, and sales and service centers in the UK, Brazil, Japan, China and Hong Kong.
- June 2009, Alliance Plant Service Co., Ltd. (APS) changed its name to PTT Maintenance & Engineering Co., Ltd. (PTTME).
- PTT Polyethylene (PTTPE), a subsidiary of PTT Chem Group has completed the construction of its Ethane Cracker which now is in the process of pre-commissioning.
- Bangkok Polyethylene (BPE), a subsidiary of PTT Chem Group has completed the construction and commissioning of its HDPE plant which now is in the process of pre-commissioning.

- January 2009, PTT Chemical revealed a premium quality bullet-proof vest made of HDPE from InnoPlus, a polyethylene brand by PTT Chemical. This marks a joint achievement between the company and the National Metal and Materials Technology (MTEC)in innovative use of domestic materials.
- August 2009, PTT Chemical Plc., and Sri Thai Superware Pcl., signed the Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop and give continuing support to Thailand’s plastic industry. The cooperation of the two companies, sharing both raw materials and technology knowledge, resulted in their first invention entitled – Water Lilies – the innovation for water conservation which is derived from Sri Thai Superware’s high-technology machine and expertise in injection and PTT Chemical’s researcher team and proficiency in manufacturing customized HDPE resins. The plastic water-conservation floats will be used to prevent water evaporation, reduce water tidal effects, and lessen soil eroding problem.
- September 2009, PTT Chemical participated the TIPREX 2009, the region’s premier plastic and rubber exhibition, and showcased its InnoPlus plastic resins under the title “InnoPlus : We Value Partnership”.
- November 2009, PTT Chemical and SMC Corporation Limited signed the Memorandum of Understanding to develop Thailand’s plastic industry through a strategic network. The two companies intend to increase the strength and potential of Thai plastic manufacturers in terms of capability to better respond to current market needs and to successfully compete in the global market.
Business and projects
Olefins business and shared facilities
- Commencing in January 2009, the production capacity expansion of Ethylene and Propylene increases to 100,000 tons/ year and 500,000 tons/per year, respectively.
- Electricity Power Steam Project (EPS project), which produces 112.5 Megawatts of electricity and 560 tons of steam per hour to support production process and expansion, is expected to start operation of Engine Set 1 and Engine Set 2 in the first quarter of 2010, and Engine Set 3 in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Polymer Products Value Centre
- Thai Styrenics Company Limited (TSCL), in which PTTPE holds 100% of shares, was established in April 2007 following an acquisition of HMT Polystyrene Company Limited (HMT)
- The Ethylene Cracker with capacity of 1,000,000 tons per year was built to produce LDPE, with capacity of 300,000 tons per year, and LLDPE, with capacity of 400,000 tons per year. The LLDPE plant is expected to start an initial operation and commercial operation within November 2009 while the LDPE plant will commence a commercial operation in the second quarter of 2010.
- The 50,000-ton per year HDPE capacity expansion project is expected to commence commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2009.
- The 250,000-ton per year HDPE capacity expansion project, under the responsibility of Bangkok Polyethylene Public Company Limited, is expected to commence a commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2009.
EO-Based Performance Products Value Centre
- The increase of MEG production capacity project to 423,000 tons per year under the operation of TOC Glycol Company Limited (TOCGC) has commenced commercial operation since November 2008.
- The 50,000-ton per year ethanol amine production project, under the responsibility of Thai Ethanol Amine Company Limited (TEA), has commenced a commercial operation in May 2009.
- The 20,000-ton per year chlorine-chloride production project, under the responsibility of Thai Chlorine-Chloride Company Limited (TCC), was expected to commence commercial operation in the second quarter of 2010. However, the Company has postponed the chlorine-chloride project for a more favorable opportunity in the future as well as to study further on a marketing plan for chlorine-chloride.
Oleochemical Products Value Centre
- After the completion of Thai Oleochemical Company Limited (TOL) construction, TOL has commenced its commercial production of Methyl ester since February 2008 and Fatty Alcohol in September 2008. TOL also invested in Multi-Purpose Reactor (MPR), related product of the Company. MPR project is expected to commence a commercial operation within the first quarter of 2010.
- TOL acquired shares of Thai Fatty Alcohol Co., Ltd. (TFA) from Cognis Thai B.V. (Cognis) from 50% of shares to 100% of shares on 17 October 2008.
Other Businesses
- PTT Chemical International Pte. Ltd. (CH Inter) acquired 50% of shares from Cognis Oleochemical (COM) on 24 November 2008, joining investment with Sime Darby Plantation (Malaysia) Company Limited. COM has the oleochemical production capacity of 962,000 tons per year whose main products, made of oil and natural fat, are fatty acid, fatty alcohol, glycerin, triacetin, ozone acid, plastic addictives, and chemical for crude production.
Progress
- In April 2007, the olefin production capacity expansion project, consisting of 130,000 tons per year of ethylene and 120,000 tons per year of propylene, was completed.
- The Company’s Board of Directors’ resolution on 26 January approved the HDPE capacity expansion project from 250,000 tons per year to 300,000 tons per year, and an investment in electricity and steam production with capacity of 108 Megawatts of electricity and 381.5 tons of steam per hour.
- Under an investment expansion plan, PTT Chemical acquired 11,500,000 shares of PTTPE, totaling Baht 1,750 million and 85,000,000 shares of BPE, totaling Baht 2,000 million from PTT Plc, leading to 100% of shareholdings in both companies
New Plants
- TOC Glycol plant was opened to produce and distribute Ethylene Oxide and Ethylene Glycol products, an essential raw material for polyester industry.
- Ethoxylene plant was opened to produce and distribute Ethoxylene, a raw material for personal care and household cleaning products.
- In 2008, with the inauguration of Phenol plant, the Company started Phenol and Acetone production, raw materials for production of Bisphenol A and PC plastic pellet, or Polycarbonate used in production of automotive parts, electrical appliances, compact discs, DVDs, etc .
